Wind & Word – Echoes of the Renaissance

Last Saturday, 9 May, St John's Camberwell was filled with the rare and beautiful sounds of the 15th century.

Fiore and The Recorder Co-op came together for Wind & Word: Echoes of the Renaissance, a very special evening dedicated to music by Josquin, Agricola, Compère, and their contemporaries. For one hour, voices and renaissance recorders intertwined, bringing this exquisite repertoire to life in an intimate and atmospheric setting.

A rare collaboration

It is not every day that you hear 15th-century polyphony performed alongside a matched consort of renaissance recorders.

The artists

We were so fortunate to be joined by an extraordinary line-up of singers:

  • Monika Harris – soprano

  • Alex Ritter – countertenor

  • Anish Nair – tenor

  • Lachlan McDonald – baritone

And from The Recorder Co-op:

  • Ryan Williams, Hannah Coleman, Ruth Wilkinson, and Alexandra Bailliet-Joly on renaissance recorders.

We were so moved by the response from those who joined us.

Thank you to everyone who came!
