What a concert! 🌩️🎶 We’re still smiling after yesterday’s unforgettable Recorder Co-op Summer Haze concert at St Mark’s, Fitzroy. Thank you to everyone who braved the weather to enjoy an afternoon of Renaissance gems and contemporary Australian works with us — and then stayed a little longer while the thunder and lightning put on their own spectacular show! It was a true pleasure sharing the music and the moment with such a wonderful audience.

A huge thank you to everyone who made our Melbourne Recorder Academy Workshop so special! From beginner to pre-professional, we loved seeing young recorder players aged 5–21 come together to explore everything from medieval and baroque music right through to contemporary ensemble playing. Thank you to our wonderful tutors — Ruth Wilkinson, Rodney Waterman, Rachel Snedden, Katherine Stacey, and Alexandra Bailliet-Joly — for sharing their energy with all the participants.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for Sunday’s concert. It was a pleasure to share such a beautiful program with you. We’re especially grateful to the Lyrebird Society for inviting us to perform.

It was a joy to share the stage the next generation of recorder players: Hugo Davey, Benji Kentwell and Katherine Stacey, alongside our special guest Kamala Bain. Our heartfelt thanks to the Victorian Recorder Guild and the Don Cowell Memorial Trust for their generous support of this education project. We’re also grateful to The University of Melbourne for the use of their instruments, and to Brunswick Uniting Church for their warm hospitality.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us last Sunday for our Five/Six Concert! 🙏 On a personal note, we’ve been dreaming of performing this program with recorder player Kamala Bain since 2017 (though the pandemic had other plans in 2020!). It was pure joy to finally bring it to life. A special shoutout to Katherine Stacey for joining us and helping create the beautiful six-part polyphony. Stay tuned as we start planning concerts and workshops for 2025!

Another inspiring weekend hosting Melbourne Recorder Academy 2023! This year we had ensembles at tertiary, secondary and primary school level - and it was so inspiring to hear these brilliant young players connecting with each other, making great music and asking questions about all things recorder.

On Halloween evening Ben Hoadley, a special guest member of the Recorder Co-op, exclaimed, "I've put its head on the dining table and the body in the kitchen," as he left rehearsals for their upcoming concert, "Meditation & Fire".
